iPhone Wallpapers & Lock Screens: How They Work
Your iPhone's Lock Screen and Home Screen each have their own background image, and since iOS 16 you can save multiple Lock Screen designs and swap between them anytime. A wallpaper is just an image file (JPG or PNG) sized to fill your screen — once it's on your phone, you can set it as your Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both.
For best results, use an image sized for your phone's display (most modern iPhones fall between 1170x2532 and 1290x2796 pixels). Images that don't match will be cropped or scaled to fit.
 
How to Download, Unzip, and Set Up Your Wallpapers
Your wallpaper files are delivered as a single ZIP file containing all the images. You'll need to unzip it before you can set anything as your wallpaper — here's how, whether you're on your iPhone or a computer.
 
Step 1: Download the ZIP file
On your iPhone: tap the download link from your confirmation email and save the file when prompted. It usually lands in the Files app under Downloads.
On a computer: click the download link and save the ZIP to your Downloads folder.
 
Step 2: Unzip the file
On iPhone:
Open the Files app
Go to Downloads (or wherever the ZIP saved)
Tap the ZIP file — it will automatically extract into a new folder with the same name
Open that folder to see the individual image files
On a Mac:
Find the ZIP in Finder (usually in Downloads)
Double-click it — it unzips automatically into a folder
AirDrop the extracted images to your iPhone, or connect your phone and transfer them via Photos
On a PC:
Find the ZIP in File Explorer (usually in Downloads)
Right-click it and choose Extract All
Transfer the extracted images to your iPhone via email, cloud storage (iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox), or a cable
 
Step 3: Save the images to your Camera Roll
If you unzipped on your iPhone: open the extracted folder in Files, tap and hold an image, then tap Share → Save Image. Repeat for each file.
If you transferred via AirDrop, email, or cloud storage: tap and hold each image, then tap Save to Photos (or Save Image).
 
Step 4: Set it as your wallpaper
Open Settings → Wallpaper
Tap Add New Wallpaper (or +)
Choose Photos and select the image from your Camera Roll
Adjust the position and zoom if needed, then tap Add
Choose to set it as your Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both
